Seasons Can Be Missed and Mantles Can Be Lost

Last night, I was watching a movie on YouTube — nothing out of the ordinary, just something to pass the time before bed. But as the storyline unfolded, something deeper began to stir in my spirit. The kind of stirring that won’t let you sleep until you put pen to paper or fingers to keys.

The movie wasn’t just entertainment — it was a revelation.

It showed a boy whose destiny had been marked from the womb. From conception, the enemy was after him. And instantly, I was reminded of how the spiritual realm doesn’t wait for us to grow up before warfare begins. Sometimes, your existence alone is a threat to the kingdom of darkness. And the enemy knows the weight of your purpose before you ever do.

When Hell Has a Hit Out on Your Destiny

What struck me was how strategic the attacks were. From the womb — complications. At birth — near death. And then? A smooth season. A season that looked like peace. But it was false peace. Because behind the scenes, Satan was waiting. Waiting for legal access.

And when did that access come?

When greed crept in. When lust entered. When the warnings were ignored.

The young man, a gifted musician, kept doing what he was born to do. Singing. Touring. Playing under the anointing. But spiritually? His covering had cracks. God was still sending warnings — through people, through dreams, through delays. But like many of us do, he mistook mercy for approval.

He thought because he was still flourishing publicly, he was fine privately.

But what he didn’t realize is — seasons can be missed and mantles can be lost.

God Works in Seasons. But So Does the Enemy.

Let’s not get it twisted — God operates in seasons. But the enemy watches them too. Because if the enemy can’t stop your calling, he’ll wait for you to disqualify yourself from it. All he needs is a little opening — a little pride, a little compromise, a little fatigue. And before you know it, you’re living out of alignment.

That’s how mantles get misplaced.

That’s how destinies get delayed — or even dismantled.

And what hit me hardest was this: the attacks didn’t bear fruit immediately. There was a spiritual lag. The man was still walking stages, still getting applause, still looking successful. But in the spirit, the enemy was already stealing, binding, manipulating… undetected.

Jamaicans Say: ‘Tek sleep mark death.’

It means don’t ignore small signs.
Don’t downplay spiritual warnings.
Don’t wait till all hell break loose before you wake up.

Because the truth is, some of us are one ignored warning away from sabotage. And God is so merciful, He keeps speaking. But if we keep ignoring, He will lift His hand. Not out of spite. But because you can’t carry a mantle with dirty hands.

Biblical Echoes: Saul, Samson, and Seasons

You think this is just about a movie? No, this is Scripture.

  • Saul missed his season. God called him, crowned him, and warned him. But his pride and disobedience cost him the throne. He lost the mantle to David.
  • Samson played with Delilah, ignored the scissors, and woke up bald. The anointing didn’t leave the moment he sinned. But eventually… it did.
  • Esau despised his birthright in a moment of hunger. One bad decision and the blessing was gone — permanently.

These stories show us the same truth:

Destiny doesn’t just rely on calling. It requires timing, obedience, and discernment.

Real Talk: I’ve Been There

There are times I’ve delayed what God told me to do. Times I knew He was shifting me into something new, but I hesitated. Times when fear spoke louder than faith. Times when I wanted comfort more than calling. And you know what I learned?

Disobedience doesn’t always look like rebellion. Sometimes it looks like delay.

You can’t keep asking God for promotion while ignoring the preparation.

5 Lessons I Learned From That Movie — and My Own Life

1. The Enemy Knows Your Purpose More Than You Think

You’re not attacked because you’re weak. You’re attacked because you’re loaded.

2. God’s Warnings Are Love Letters

When God keeps warning you, it’s not to shame you — it’s to save you from sabotage.

3. You Can Be Gifted and Still Out of Season

Just because you’re functioning doesn’t mean you’re flourishing under God’s covering.

4. Private Compromise Destroys Public Anointing

You might not see it now, but the spiritual realm does. What’s hidden will manifest.

5. Every Season Has an Expiry Date

Don’t assume the opportunity will wait for you to “get ready.” Move when God says move.

Jamaican Wisdom: ‘Every day bucket go a well, one day di bottom drop out.’

You can keep living on mercy, but eventually, judgment catches up. That’s why this blog isn’t to scare you — it’s to wake you. Because some of us are playing with mantles, treating them like trends, when really they’re generational assignments.

A Final Word of Grace

Even if you missed a season before, God is a restorer. But don’t play with this one. If He’s been nudging you — in dreams, in delays, in detours — take it seriously. Don’t wait until the spotlight dims and the oil dries up.

There’s still time to reposition yourself. To answer the call. To return to obedience.
Because if mantles can be lost, they can also be caught.

But only if you’re awake. Aligned. And ready.

A Closing Prayer

Father,
Help me to discern my seasons. Let me not miss what You’re doing in my life because I’m distracted, delayed, or disobedient. Expose every plan of the enemy. Keep me under Your covering. Let me walk in timing, purity, and obedience. And if I’ve missed anything, God — restore what can be restored, and realign me to what’s next. I don’t want to miss another season. I want to carry what You’ve placed in my hands with reverence and fire.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
