If You Will Be Favorable in the Hands of the Lord, He Will Use You

There are seasons when the call is clear, but the door is shut. You know what God said. You know what He showed you. You even know the desire is not your own—it was planted by Him. And yet… nothing’s moving. No confirmation. No opportunity. Just waiting.

I’ve been there. Still am sometimes.

But I’m learning that God’s silence is not His denial.
Delay is not rejection.
And divine favor—true favor—is not about instant recognition, but being formed for the appointed time.

The Word Came, But the Door Didn’t Open

You may have received a word from the Lord.
Something specific. Something tied to purpose. Maybe it was:

  • A call to ministry
  • A pull toward leadership
  • A nudge to start something new
  • Or even an instruction to serve somewhere

And maybe, like me, you were excited—hopeful. You prayed. You positioned yourself. You tried to walk by faith. But nothing opened. In fact, you felt like you got pushed back further. Forgotten even.

That’s the part people don’t talk about.
The part between prophecy and platform.
Between calling and commissioning.

It’s the waiting room of God, and it’s where He checks your posture.

Because you can’t carry purpose with an unyielded spirit.

Favorable Doesn’t Mean Famous

We often confuse favor with visibility.
But favor doesn’t always look like people clapping.
Sometimes it looks like being hidden in the wilderness while God works on your heart.

David was favored when he was in the fields, forgotten by his family, but chosen by heaven.
Esther was favored when she was being prepped in secret before she stood before the king.
Joseph was favored even when he was in prison—because the favor of God is not about where you are, it’s about who you belong to and how surrendered you are.

What Does It Mean to Be Favorable in His Hands?

It means you’re moldable. Usable. Flexible.
It means you’ve released your own timeline.
It means you’ve stopped measuring your worth by what you can produce, and instead said:
“Here I am, Lord. Even in the silence, I’ll stay faithful.”

Being favorable in His hands means:

  • You respond even when there’s no applause
  • You pray even when there’s no clarity
  • You serve even when there’s no title
  • You trust even when there’s no evidence

It’s when your heart whispers:

“God, if You want to use me—You don’t have to do it on a stage. You can do it through a whisper, through a text, through a quiet conversation.”

I remember years ago, the Lord told me I was going to go to college. At the time, I didn’t even have the subjects required—none. It looked impossible. I thought, “How could I go to college with nothing on paper?” But God doesn’t see through our limitations. He sees completion from the beginning.

After I had my daughter, God reminded me again, in 2016, that I would go. It still didn’t look possible. But by 2021, He gave me the instruction to apply. And funny enough, the degree I wanted to do? He had something else in mind. I obeyed. I stepped into it. And by 2016, I had already received my CXCs, enrolled, and begun the journey in 2022.

Now, just four years later, I’m not only graduating with my Bachelor’s Degree, but I also earned an Associate Degree and multiple certifications along the way.

For someone who used to be afraid to start anything, this is God’s doing. One thing I always returned to, even before I knew how it would be used, was writing. I’ve always loved to write. It became my quiet space, my hiding place, my healing well. I never imagined God would use it this way, but He placed that ability in me before I ever saw the platform.

I hope this encourages someone reading: don’t despise the small beginnings. Don’t underestimate your waiting season. God’s word over your life still stands. Whether it’s college, ministry, business, teaching, or art—He will bring it to pass.

Just be patient. The training is necessary. And the timing is sacred.

3 Signs You’re Being Prepared, Not Denied

1. The door hasn’t opened yet, but your character is being sharpened

God doesn’t just care about what you do. He cares who you become. If your heart isn’t ready to carry the weight of the mantle, He’ll delay the release—not to punish you, but to protect the assignment.

2. The opportunities are quiet, but your convictions are louder

If you’re being refined in private, take it as a sign: God is investing in you. He’s pruning. He’s pressing. He’s preparing oil from your obedience.

3. You feel like you’re behind, but God is never late

Favor has a clock that’s not on earthly time. You don’t need a fast track—you need God’s track. His timing is perfect, even when it feels painful.

A Personal Reflection

There have been times I’ve wanted to jump ahead. Times I thought, “God, if You said it, why isn’t it happening?” But I’m learning that the anointing doesn’t respond to panic—it responds to patience.

Some things I asked God for a year ago? He’s only now saying, “Yes.”
Other things I wanted instantly? He’s still saying, “Wait.”
And there are moments I’ve even seen Him close doors I thought were open—just to remind me that only the doors He opens will stay open.

4 Things to Do While You Wait for God’s Timing

1. Refine Your “Yes” Daily

Don’t let your yes grow stale. Say it again. Surrender again. Every day, re-commit to being available even when it’s inconvenient.

2. Serve Where You Are

David didn’t stop tending sheep when he was anointed king. He served faithfully right where he was—because when your heart is right, you won’t despise small beginnings.

3. Guard Against Frustration and Comparison

The enemy loves to whisper lies during the wait: “You’re forgotten. Overlooked. Behind.” Don’t listen. God hasn’t forgotten. He’s preparing you for what He promised.

4. Feed Your Faith With the Word

When you can’t hear God clearly, go back to what He already said. Revisit the Word. Revisit the promise. Revisit your journals. God doesn’t waste anything—not your tears, not your prayers, not your faith.

Remember This…

God uses those who are favorable in His hands.
That doesn’t mean perfect.
It means yielded.
It means available.
It means ready, even if not recognized.

Your time will come.
But when it does, will He find you bitter, or still believing?
Will you be hardened by delay, or still hopeful?
Will you be busy chasing other things, or still faithful in the field?

Because when God moves, He moves suddenly.
And when He opens the door, He doesn’t knock twice.

A Prayer to Stay Yielded

Lord,
Make me favorable in Your hands.
Let me not rush ahead of you.
Teach me to serve in silence, obey in obscurity, and trust Your timing above all else.
If you said it, I believe it—even if I don’t yet see it.
Use me, Lord—not just when the lights are on, but when no one’s watching.
Make me ready. Keep me yielded. And let my life bring You glory.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
