Becoming in the Middle: When You’re Not Broken, But Not Blooming Either”

When You’re No Longer Falling Apart, But You’re Not Fully Put Together Either

It’s a strange place to be.

You’re no longer crying every night.
The panic has settled. The breakdown season passed.
You’ve wiped your face, collected your edges, and whispered, “Lord, I’m still here.”

But if you’re honest? You’re still not all the way healed.
Not all the way joyful. Not all the way on fire.

You’re in the middle.

You’re functioning, yes. You’re working, parenting, posting, even praying.
But that deep spark? That fire you used to carry in your bones?
It’s… simmering. Not gone, just quiet.

And in this space between surviving and thriving, you feel unseen.
Like you’re sitting in God’s waiting room, dressed for the promise, but not called in yet.

And you wonder…
“Is something wrong with me? Did I miss my moment? Why does it feel like everyone else is harvesting while I’m still being hidden?”

But hear me, sis:
The middle is not a punishment. It’s a proving ground.

This is where identity is refined.
This is where faith becomes muscle—not just mood.
This is where you learn to love God when He’s silent and follow Him when you can’t trace Him.

“Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him…” – Job 13:15 (KJV)

This blog is for the woman who’s still becoming.
Not broken. Not blooming. Just walking with God in the quiet space between.

And I promise you—this space is holy, too.

The Purpose of Being Hidden in the Middle

Nobody teaches you how to walk through the middle.

We hear sermons about breakthrough.
We hear testimonies of survival.
But who’s testifying from the in-between?

That silent place after the trauma but before the reward.
Where your mind is stable again, but your joy still feels fragile.
Where the worst is behind you, but the best hasn’t shown up yet.

That’s the middle—and God does some of His deepest work there.

💭 Why Does God Let Us Linger in the Middle?

Because He’s not just interested in what you do for Him—He’s preparing who you are with Him.

The middle is where your motives get purified.
Where your false identities fall off.
Where the version of you that depended on people’s validation gets buried for good.

You’re not being overlooked.
You’re being preserved.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” – Psalm 91:1 (KJV)

Sometimes, He hides you to heal you.
Sometimes, He silences the stage so He can minister to the real you—the one behind the brand, behind the motherhood, behind the constant output.

🛑 Don’t Rush Out of the Middle

We’re so quick to say, “God, get me out of this.”
But what if the middle is the only place quiet enough for you to actually hear His voice?

What if there are things He can only shape in you when nobody’s clapping?
What if the reason the bloom hasn’t come yet… is because your roots still need to stretch?

You’re not behind.
You’re not stuck.
You’re just becoming. Quietly. Slowly. Powerfully.

This isn’t wasted time. It’s foundation season.

Tips to Stand Firm When You’re Becoming in the Middle

The middle is messy. It’s lonely. And if you’re not careful, it will convince you that you’ve been forgotten.

Here are 7 grounded, soul-saving tips to help you stand firm, faithful, and focused when you’re not broken anymore—but not blooming yet either.

1. Stop Trying to Rush What God is Still Writing

You don’t get to edit the timeline of your healing.
You don’t get to skip scenes in the name of “getting ahead.”
The middle chapter might not be glamorous, but it’s critical to the story.
Trust the Author. He knows the plot twist you can’t see yet.

2. Don’t Measure Growth by What’s Visible

Just because nothing’s blooming on the surface doesn’t mean nothing’s happening underneath.
Roots grow before fruit shows.
Celebrate invisible growth. Obedience in secret. Quiet faithfulness.

“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7 (ESV)

3. Create Without Clout

Write even if no one reads it.
Sing even if no one hears it.
Post even if it gets 3 likes.
This is your practice ground. Your “oil in private” season.
Make peace with building in the shadows.

4. Rehearse the Promise, Not the Problem

Speak what God said until it silences your doubts.
Keep a “God Said” journal and reread it when discouragement comes.
Your promise is not expired—it’s just in progress.

5. Find Joy in Ordinary Faithfulness

You won’t always feel inspired—but you can always choose intentionality.
Washing dishes, raising your child, replying to emails—these aren’t small things.
They’re training for ruling.
Faithfulness in the small unlocks stewardship over the great.

6. Stay Planted, Even if It’s Quiet

When it feels like nothing’s happening, don’t uproot yourself.
Don’t leave the business, the marriage, the ministry, or the assignment just because it got quiet.
The middle is when most people quit.
Don’t be most people.

7. Cry… but Keep Walking

Let yourself feel. Let yourself break down if needed. But don’t pitch a tent in disappointment.
Wipe your face, reapply your lip balm, and keep walking.
Because if you’re still in the middle—God’s not done yet.

You’re Becoming Even If No One Sees It

The world claps for blooms, but God watches the roots.

So if you’re in a season where you feel buried, quiet, unseen—know this:
You’re not buried.
You’re planted.

This middle space? It’s where your roots are going deeper.
It’s where your character is catching up to your calling.
It’s where your faith becomes fire-tested—not loud, but lasting.

You might not have a platform right now.
You might not have the clarity or the finances or the following.
But you still have the promise.

And becoming is still happening.
Even here. Even now.
Even when it doesn’t feel like much.

Don’t let this season lie to you.
You’re not behind. You’re in the soil.

And soon… you will rise.

🔎 Reflection Questions (Journal These)

  • Where have I mistaken delay for denial?
  • What invisible growth can I celebrate today?
  • How has God been shaping me quietly in this season?
  • Am I resting in His timing or wrestling for control?

✝️ A Prayer for the Woman in the Middle

Lord, I feel like I’m in-between—no longer broken, but not yet blooming.
Remind me that becoming is holy, even when it’s hidden.
Teach me to trust the process You’ve allowed, and to stop rushing what You are still writing.
Give me peace in the pause.
Joy in the journey.
And faith that doesn’t need an audience to keep moving.
I believe You’re still working—even when it’s quiet.
And I won’t give up just because I can’t see the full picture yet.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
