This afternoon, I sat still long enough to listen. Not to music. Not to the hum of the countryside. But to the quiet inside me that kept repeating one question:
What if the very thing I’ve spent years hiding is exactly what God wants to use to reach the world?
That question struck a nerve. Because one of the greatest obstacles I’ve ever battled was the fear—not the everyday kind, but that deep-rooted, soul-entangling kind that grows from childhood wounds. The type that clouds decisions, paralyzes dreams, and plants seeds of doubt in everything you do.
Maybe for you, it’s not fear. Maybe it’s your limp. Or your diagnosis. Or your silence. But what if the thing you’ve spent your whole life trying to bury is actually the thing God wants to broadcast?
When Fear Becomes a Lifestyle
The fear didn’t show up overnight. It formed slowly, shaped by years of comments and criticisms that were spoken like offhand remarks but landed like arrows.
- “You’re too quiet.”
- “You’re not leadership material.”
- “You’ll never be good enough.”
And over time, those words turned into beliefs. Beliefs that became behavior.
Opportunities were passed up. Dreams were downsized. Confidence was replaced with hesitation.
The fear convinced me I wasn’t ready. But that was a lie.
God Has a Pattern of Using the Overlooked
Scripture is full of stories where God didn’t just tolerate the weak—He chose them.
- Moses had a speech issue, and yet God made him a mouthpiece.
- Gideon was hiding, and God called him a warrior.
- Paul was tormented, and God said, “My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
God doesn’t require polished resumes. He looks for surrendered hearts.
So if you’ve ever wondered whether your disability, trauma, or fear makes you unusable, let me assure you:
You are not too broken for purpose—you are positioned for it.
Fear Was the Wall Between Me and Destiny
The fear had built an invisible wall. A wall that said, “Don’t try.” A wall that shouted, “Stay where it’s safe.” A wall that kept calling me by old names.
And for a long time, I listened.
But one day, faith whispered back: “What if this is exactly where your strength lives?”
That was the beginning of change. Not all at once—but in brave, small steps:
- Writing even when doubt screamed louder
- Designing when anxiety said, “Don’t show your work”
- Saying yes to opportunities that shook my knees
And over time, the wall began to crack.
What If Your Story Isn’t a Scar—But a Signal?
We waste so much energy trying to hide the very things that make us human. But what if God wants to use that limp? That label? That fear?
What if your struggle is someone else’s survival guide?
What if your voice, trembling and unsure, is the exact voice someone else has been waiting for?
God doesn’t shine despite our flaws. He often shines through them.
A Real-Life Example: The Tall Man and His Testimony
I recently came across a video of a young man—very tall, with feet so large they have to specially make shoes for him. To many, this would be seen as a “disability.” Something to mock, hide, or correct.
But not anymore.
This man is now being used for international brand endorsements. He’s traveling the world—from Uganda (or possibly Kenya) to Dubai—stepping into spaces he may have never imagined. He’s being celebrated for the very thing that once may have isolated him.
God took what the world called a disadvantage and turned it into a platform.
That young man’s height is now a gift—a vehicle of provision, a billboard of God’s creativity, and a testimony that what once looked like a limitation is now a passport into purpose.
And it made me pause. Because it confirmed everything I was writing.
5 Steps to Transform What You Hide Into What He Uses
1. Name the Thing Without Owning It
Acknowledge the fear, insecurity, or limitation—but don’t wear it like your name tag. Say it, release it, and invite God into it.
2. Ask God to Turn It Into Purpose
He may not remove it—but He will redeem it. Pray boldly: “Lord, use this for Your glory. Don’t let this pain go to waste.”
3. Start Small and Keep Showing Up
Faith is built in motion. Don’t wait to feel fearless—just start walking and let courage catch up.
4. Protect Your Environment
Fear grows in the wrong company. Surround yourself with people who speak to your potential, not your past.
5. Make Space to Reflect
Write. Breathe. Sit in stillness. God will often speak the loudest in the quietest spaces. Make room for reflection so the lesson doesn’t pass you by.
This Blog Is More Than SEO
Yes, this post will show up in search results. But this isn’t just about rankings. This is about resurrection. This is about helping one person realize:
“I’m not the only one. And maybe, just maybe, God can use me too.”
If that’s you—then this was for you.
Final Thoughts
Let today be the day you stop apologizing for the very thing God handcrafted you to carry. That fear no longer owns you. That flaw isn’t final.
You are not disqualified. You are a divine display of grace.
The thing you thought would keep you in hiding?
Might just be the doorway to your calling.
So whether it’s height, voice, scars, skin, or setbacks—He can use it.
A Prayer to Release What Was Never Yours
God,
I release the fear I once carried. I lay down the belief that I’m not enough. I surrender the labels, the shame, and the silence. I ask You to use the parts of me I tried to bury. Use the wound, the weakness, and the history for Your glory. Let my life become a message that points people to healing, to hope, and to You.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

You are so right, and since we did not get there overnight we have to keep pressing to allow God to use us and the situation, for His glory. Thank you for helping not just me, but all who read this and can relate to it in their life.
You are very welcome! Linda
